Most of these words have phonetic undertones \u2013 reading \u2018read\u2019 as \u2018red\u2019 for example. This would, of course, change the meaning of the entire sentence and hinder understanding. People with dyslexia must consciously reverse their brain\u2019s work to make whole sense of the matter.<\/p>\n\n<p>This is a very tiring process, due to which they lag behind their peers. Some other problems in reading are when the letters of the words switch places \u2013 like \u2018No\u2019 becomes \u2018On\u2019 and \u2018Dog\u2019 becomes \u2018God\u2019. This is a form of directional dyslexia.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized is-style-default\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5969\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nurturers.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Dyslexia-2-1-875x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"326\" height=\"381\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Sometimes, it may even be that the last letters of the words are simply skipped \u2013 \u2018walking\u2019 becomes \u2018walk\u2019, \u2018talking\u2019 becomes \u2018talk\u2019. The words may blend, which makes the text lose its meaning. \u2018The crow croaked a song\u2019 may become \u2018The rowcroak eda song\u2019 which is very difficult to understand! The space between the letters also disappears and the entire sentence appears like a single word!<\/p>\n\n<p>Dyslexic Children\u00a0tend to perceive things visually \u2013 on reading a text, they are simultaneously creating a story in their head. This way words and letters get easily mixed up.<\/p>\n\n<p>There are also certain blank words \u2013 abstract words that can\u2019t conjure up an image, words like \u2018at\u2019 and \u2018unless\u2019 and \u2018is\u2019. Such words bring the entire picturization to a stop, such that the dyslexic feels lost in a maze of words.<\/p>\n\n<p>Students with dyslexia also have problems with memorizing words, and remembering what they have read, as they spent a long time in just understanding it. However, if the same information is read aloud to them, they tend to remember it more easily. Despite mastering the basics of arithmetic, students with dyslexia struggle with word problems, and applying mathematical concepts to real life situations.<\/p>\n\n<p>There are ways for sentences to be framed such that Dyslexic Children can read them a bit more easily \u2013 by avoiding phonetics and abstract words and adding more visual elements \u2013 as well as providing special accommodations for students with dyslexia, by offering them learning support by special educators, suitable learning aids, computer software, recorded reading assignments and having special arrangements for exams.
